Iceland '07

In light of recent geologic events, I dug out my sketchbook from my trip to Iceland a few years ago.  An amazing place - looks like a Star Trek planet.  Amazing rock formations, jaw-dropping waterfalls, and foot-thick springy moss.

(Read about the trip: http://www.o-berry.com/travel/iceland07/default.html)

Pear tart and Apple computer

A blustery day, so I took refuge in the Evil Bakery.  There was a guy typing away on his Mac.  He looked a lot like a Gary Larson character, but between my portrait drawing skills and his twitching, he didn't come out all that gracefully (why don't they sit still!)

There was quite the crowd in there - some having lunch and some just there for the evil.

Sunbathing at 60

That's 60 degrees, not 60 years old.  The temperature climbs that high around here and folks take it as summer and head for the beach.  There were a couple of hearty souls actually swimming at Matthews, but judging by their, um, verbal descriptions, I'd say that water was cold (it's cold in July).

Back over at Gasworks folks were out in force on land an sea, and it's much easier to draw people when they are sitting still than when they are flailing in the water. :-)

And there was a really nice halo around the sun, too!  http://www.atoptics.co.uk/halo/circular.htm

Pothole Rangers ride again

Yup, the Pothole Rangers were back for another go at my street.  Seems like they were just here.  Three guys with one shovel.  I'm sure they'll be back - roads are not a strength that Seattle has.

Meanwhile, I got a nice long ride in yesterday.  This is someone's dock along Lake Washington (around 140th, judging by the addresses) and the trail at the same spot.  That yellow stuff is pollen.

And of course Gasworks, but this time from on top of Kite Hill.

Rainy days are here again

A few days ago we still had some sunny weather with the clouds looming in the distance and the acrobats out at Gasworks (constantly in motion).

Now it's back to Seattle in the Spring (horizontal rain), so I took solace in Tom Thai.
(Swimming Rama and Thai Iced Tea with a view of the flames.)
