Lost in an iPod world

It's amazing how you can be just a few feet away from someone, looking straight at them, and they don't even see you because they are so wrapped up in their separate world.

The big 5-0

So Ruth hit the half-century mark, and we went Palisades for brunch.  Great place if you can get there - it's on the island of Magnolia, down by the marina and it only took one very illegal U-turn and a few questionable lane changes to get there.

Ruth and I had the French Toast - which was like eating giant slices of flavored air.  Mel and Spud had the Wellington which looked like a small burrito.  There was also the buffet, which among other things had some fabulous banana macadamia nut pancakes.

Then it was back to my place for cake and Scrabble (which involved and Ox in Box)

A few random moments

Moonset from a few mornings ago:

And a sketch from earlier this week.  She's doing "Ferocious Sudoku" but seems pretty calm about it.

Mystery truck

A couple trucks out front today - no idea what they were up to, but it took them several hours.

The wind blows

It was so clear out that I was determined to get outside and do some sketching, but that wind was just biting, so I got the trees, and before completely losing all sensation in my fingers, I headed for the Evil Bakery.

The couple across from me had at least two phones and a laptop and several magazines and no idea that I was sketching them from three feet away.

Two-for-one day

Bronchitis and plantar fasciitis.  Here's the stuff on the wall of the doctor's office while I was waiting:

(No, I'm not really sure what that hose thing is)

Full moon in the p-patch

Or maybe that's a half moon...

(And no, there's no sign of any thip blooming yet, but the bulbs are starting to come up)

A whole bunch more commuters

Haven't scanned for a while, so here's about a week's worth of commuters:

They rearrange the schedules a few times a year and you get a new driver.  This new guy looks like he's tribal South American but has an accent that's some weird mix of Chinese and French and is a little loony - he actually requested one of the other cyclists to be "the first one off the bus, not the last."  We were all cracking up about that one.  But somehow he said nothing about the gal eating the glazed donut.
