Overheard at Peet's
Another warm, beautiful day, but today I took it easy and went for a long walk around the neighborhood. Lot's of things in bloom!
Then I went to Peet's. It's a great place to eavesdrop while you sketch:
"Do they sell ready-made ravioli?"
"I chose the fusion because it gets better mileage."
"And he's still married."
"I've got to walk about a mile to the car."
"They are just trying to find the answer."
"Do you need a special skillet?"
"I'm not saying anything!"

And today is my mom's birthday! Here's the watercolor sketches that I did for her:

It's not my fault
It's the San Andreas fault. I only recently realized that I practically live on top of it. Those cool finger lakes at the top of the ridge? You know, where the hills are all squished together three miles up the road? That's the fault. Quite pretty. Went hiking there today with a friend - there's a really nice trail that goes for miles along the fault and it was a beautiful day for a walk.

Calling it done
Texture doesn't come through as well as I would like (photographing an oil painting is all about getting rid of the glare), but here's Dettifoss, Iceland. 9x12, oil on canvas.

Windy
It's a rainy windy day. There was a break in the rain long enough to see some clouds go sailing by. But the next deluge is on its way.
