Summer sun and the space-time continuum
Oh wait, it's January. Well it felt like summer this weekend. 70's I think and gorgeous out. Did a lot of just enjoying outside and did some mountain biking. The shapes and sunlight were awesome.
Then this afternoon I saw some trees that had their spring buds coming out while still holding some fall leaves. Aren't things supposed to happen one at a time? Isn't the whole point of 'time' that things don't happen all at once, thus "space-time continuum"? Hmmm...

A green sketchy day
A little sketching and a little hiking today - and it's amazingly green in the hills now! But first, a trip to Peet's to have a cookie and a tea and sketch some locals. Here's a phone pic of that outing:
Coffee shops are nice because people are relatively absorbed in whatever they are doing and thus don't notice you. They are also sitting still and there's a nice variety that comes and goes.
Then it was off for some suburban hiking to Arguello Park. It's amazing how green it is now that we've had some rain. There's a beautiful silence that you get in the woods on a hill.

Water Dog Lake
Went for a quick mountain bike ride today to Water Dog Lake. Much green now from all the rain, although oddly the lake itself is lower - there's some sort of a pumping thing there, although I'm not sure the story on why it gets lowered. Lots of people out on the trail - the most I've ever seen, actually, which is a bit of an issue when you're blasting down a hill on a mountain bike.

Oldie but goodie
Going through some old photos I found this one from 2008. There's nothing quite like black and white.
