9 hours of chainsaws

No, I wasn't binge-watching horror movies.  I had a tree removed in the backyard.  Something about "That's 60% rotted; don't be near it in a windstorm," and "That's an accident waiting to happen."  So five guys with ropes, chainsaws, and a mulcher show up Saturday morning at 8am and get to work.  One guy climbs the tree, wraps a rope around a section, and cuts away.  That section is then belayed to the ground by the rest of the crew, who cut it up, carry it out front, and feed it in to the mulcher.  Said mulcher can turn a foot-thick section of a tree into sawdust - my daisies peed their planter watching this.  You don't want to mess with a mulcher.  Of course, by the time we got down to the end the mulcher had jammed and half the team was unjamming the mulcher while the other half kept sawing the stuff that was on the ground.

It was fascinating to watch, but I don't think I need to hear another chainsaw for the rest of my life.  It also made for interesting drawing practice: I don't know how many opportunities to draw chainsaw action or carry-the-large-branch action I've had.  Also. lots of pulling on ropes.

I also took a couple of videos, including a time lapse of the whole process (https://youtu.be/5pwKMR3VHlU) and the pulling down of the last piece of tree (a very large piece of tree - https://youtu.be/YndsRTUxQ9k)

Drawing at lunch and on the train

I'm getting my drawing practice in on the train and at lunch - those sketchy people are everywhere!  Different types of pens and different sketchbooks.

And this lot is from the coffee shop, with Carbon Black ink now in my Sailor Fude pen, so it's waterproof!
