Sketching a sketcher sketching

That guy in the lower left is sketching - you can tell by the large pad of paper and how his head keeps bobbing up and down.  Also a lover of coffee shops for all of the free models!

Sketching indoors today again due to the cold weather which results in an empty patio (even with the heaters running).  Quotes of the day:  "It's not a bad place, it's just a waste of your skill set," and "Our flights are terrible because I fly United."  I can relate to both!

Scotch on the rocks

Yesterday I went out for a little local hike up to Arguello park.  Amazingly green after being so brown for so long.  Also very empty: No ball games; no one at the playground; and I only saw one family enjoying the park.  Nice and quiet.  I did a sketch from the bottom of the hill looking up, then another from the top looking down.

(Color added later!)

Today was a trip to the coffee shop - no one outside since it was not even 50, so I was drawing indoors.  It's harder to eavesdrop since they've got the music on and I'm easily distracted by the 80's, but I did manage to catch "What do you want to drink?" "Scotch on the rocks!"

Happy holidays

In honor of the Christmas full moon, here's a sketch I did on my new etch-a-sketch (with a reflection staring as the moon).

Ready for Santa!

I baked a pie (and made sure it came out OK)

Hung my stocking with care

And the Charlie Brown tree is trimmed and ready for Santa!

I'm ready!

Christmas lights in San Carlos

Well there's a street in my neighborhood that goes a little crazy with the lights.  I'm pretty sure Santa won't miss them!  Two blocks are lit up. It's a little hard to capture in pictures, but I tried.

Somewhere between cute and disturbing:

This one was in motion - the lights are animated!

Bumbles do bounce

More coffee shop sketches.  Conversations include "That cat would just stare at you."  And "Bumbles DO bounce."

15 seconds of train

So the Christmas train is running this weekend, and while it doesn't stop at my station I thought I'd go up there to see the train go by.  Go by it did: It doesn't even slow down unless you are one of the official stops.  Probably because there is a passenger train right behind it.  Still, it was a pretty blur:
